Blooming heritage
The lilac cultivation in and around Aalsmeer is part of our cultural heritage. “We spend a lot of time working outdoors. On the Westeinderplassen lakes you can see the kingfishers flying by, which is fabulous! Only in winter do we work in the warm greenhouse.”
The growery was handed over to Jan ten Hoeve a year ago. “This crop suits me perfectly,” says Jan. “It’s hard work, but also very varied and challenging. I always try to think two steps ahead - it’s like chess.”
