Miriam Poldervaart is only 22 and runs Art of the Flower, her own flower store in the Dutch town of Putten. She also tours the Netherlands in her sustainable flower bus, but she does more to set herself apart.
In addition to the shop, Miriam gives workshops where she talks about the origins of the flowers and how they grow. “People love learning more about the stories behind the flowers,” she says. “I get a lot of inspiration from florists in America and the biodiversity there. They are sometimes a little ahead of the trends, and I try to bring that to the Netherlands. I also draw inspiration from works of art. For example, I have a Van Gogh bouquet and a Rembrandt bouquet in my assortment. You can get endless inspiration from works of art, so I can certainly go on for a while!”

SubscribeThe '365 days of flowers' campaign is an initiative of the promotion committee 365 days of flowers, part of Royal FloraHolland. Over 1,800 growers from 15 different countries make this possible. They grow over 150 different flowers, which are promoted throughout the year based on Royal FloraHolland's availability dates. The objective of the '365 days of flowers' campaign is to jointly develop sales opportunities for florists.
