Mother of three, Marine Duthoit decided to leave her previous job to pursue her childhood dream: becoming a florist.
“I became a florist after a career change. I had worked as a postal worker for 12 years and decided to quit overnight. Becoming a florist was my dream as a little girl. It was a big step, especially because I have three children, including a daughter with a disability. But I’ve never regretted it. After one year of training, I found my path – and I’m still happy with that decision.
One moment that really stayed with me was when a lady came in the day before Christmas looking for a bouquet for her church. Normally, she would go to the florist opposite the church, but this time she wanted something different. She had very high expectations. That was tough, since I had only been in the business for a few months. I made a bouquet with lots of lilies and gerberas. She loved it! Since then, she’s become a regular, coming in for two large bouquets worth €150 to €180 – even though there’s still a florist directly across from her church.”
