Uplifting comfort bouquets

Paul Deckers is a master floral designer who each day puts his passion and the emotional power of flowers into floral creations.

“With floral arrangements you can do something really meaningful for people,” says Paul. “I get most of my ideas when I’m out in the countryside. Also when I’m abroad, such as Thailand, South Africa, Tanzania and Vietnam. That is the power of nature. Nature is so pure, and you can translate that beautifully into floral arrangements.”

“When someone passes away, people often immediately think of funeral bouquets. But why not also offer comfort bouquets for the bereaved? White and green are often colours used for this. After all, white symbolises purity and peace, and green hope and life. Personally I would choose something more cheerful to lift up the atmosphere. So you can use flowers that symbolise that life goes on. Think of cheerful colours like purple and lilac. And of the flowers Allium, Rosa, Helianthus and Paeonia. These are all powerful flowers that symbolise the power of life.”
