''Digitisation has really taken off as a result of Covid. It’s easier to sell flowers online, and travel is more likely to be replaced with an online meeting. You can work with that as an entrepreneur. With the aid of AR (augmented reality) you can place a bouquet in your own setting, for example. On Instagram that’s a gimmick. But we also use this technology for growers, for example. We can create a 3D model of the product that growers can use for sales. Our 3D reconstructions are perfect for use in florists’ marketing mix. For example, you can display a poster in-store or on a bus shelter and digitally enhance it using a QR code so that a bouquet comes alive. Or you can superimpose a video over a poster so you can show how many beautiful seasonal products you have. A lot of business people think that social media requires a lot of time. You know you should be using it - but how? Only a few florists are currently using Instagram Shopping. If you show a bouquet there that you link to an AR filter, you’re offering fun interactive content that stands out. And if that great content persuades someone, the buy button is right there. In that way you can make social media a real sales channel with which you can tap a new customer base.”

The '365 days of flowers' campaign is an initiative of the promotion committee 365 days of flowers, part of Royal FloraHolland. Over 1,800 growers from 15 different countries make this possible. They grow over 150 different flowers, which are promoted throughout the year based on Royal FloraHolland's availability dates. The objective of the '365 days of flowers' campaign is to jointly develop sales opportunities for florists.
